William C. Porter, Jr., King William County Interim Administrator, declared a Countywide Open Air Burn Ban  that was effective Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 12 Noon.  This ban will run for 60 days or until there has been a significant amount of rainfall.  This encompasses King William County and the Town of West Point.

Hamilton Holmes Middle School raised the most money for their "Pennies for Pets" fundraiser. They raised a total of $3,087.85.  The Regional Animal Shelter received $587.85 of these funds to help with enrichment of the animals' care at the shelter.  The remaining $2,500 was donated to the Indian Rivers Humane Society and earmarked to help with medical expenses for animals at the Regional Animal Shelter.
