Ninth District Court Services Unit

King William Branch Office

King William County is one of 11 jurisdictions that make up the Ninth District Court Service Unit of the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Juvenile Justice.

The Court Services Unit has individualized sanctions and incentives that are available within the jurisdictions to hold juveniles accountable for their actions by using restrictive measures and less secure detention first before proceeding with extreme measures like out of home placement.

The Ninth District Court Services Unit serves the Counties of Charles City, Gloucester, James City, King & Queen, King William, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent and York and the Cities of Poquoson and Williamsburg.

Mission

The Mission of the Department of Juvenile Justice is to protect and reduce juvenile delinquency through partnerships with families, schools, communities, law enforcement and other agencies, while providing the opportunity for delinquent youths to develop into respectable and productive citizens.
