Building

The Building Department performs inspections of commercial and residential properties for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Housing Guidelines, county ordinances and building codes, and to review and approve plans for new construction.

For more information about the building inspection process, please call 804-769-4969 or visit the office. All inspection requests must be in by 9 am for same day service. *Effective July 12, 2021, same day service inspection requests must be received by 8 am.

Permits can be sent in and other building information can be now obtained by emailing the Building Department.

Fees

Building Permit Fees can now be paid online. Refer to the Fee Schedule (PDF) for amount due and add 2% State Levy to calculate the total. To confirm amount due, contact the Building Department at 769-4969. You may make your payment online.
