Energy Share Program
*****PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DAY OF DISCONNECT TO REQUEST AN APPLICATION FOR ENERGY SHARE ASSISTANCE--Applicants are asked to bring or send all documents (rental lease, mortgage statement, utility bills, bank statements, proof of prior utility bill payments and all income from any source) requested with the application to make the process more streamlined.
EnergyShare is a crisis program of last resort that helps pay energy bills for any type of heating and cooling source (oil, natural gas, propane, kerosene, electric) for those who qualify. Individuals and families who are struggling financially may apply for assistance once per season. Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility. Individuals 60 and older are eligible for additional assistance. Applicants for the Dominion Energy, Energy Assistance Program must complete the application and the intake form in full providing all requested information.
Energy Share assistance is the LAST resort after ALL other resources have been explored. King William Emergency Ministries, West Point Ministerial Association, Virginia Department of Social Services Fuel programs and any other assistance known available at the time of application must be applied for before Energy Share is utilized. Applicant must list all other attempts to receive assistance on the application.
Applicant is responsible for providing copies of rental lease, mortgage statement, utility bills, bank statements, proof of prior utility bill payments and all income from any source. Applicants must also provide copies of all bills and expenses as listed on their application. By signing the Energy Share application applicant gives King William Social Services permission to contact any resource, provider or debtor listed by applicant including sources of income. These documents must be presented with the application if possible. Failure to provide all requested information will result in denial of assistance.
Applicant must provide true and accurate information and attest to the true and accurate nature of the information when signing and dating the application. Applicant is responsible for a co-pay for any utility assistance. The co-pay must be made and verification provided by applicant before any assistance is made official for the applicant.
